 Sneak Preview!

You guessed it! Just as it sounds, Here comes a new mod, based on a Zombie Apocalypse.

The Cadaver Race


This mod will put more of a focus on items used,
Taking many mechanics from various other zombie games.
I intend to give Diablo a higher playback value, and encourage the use of multiplayer matchups.

Unlike modern Zombie games, there still are no guns.
Instead the player will find, or buy blueprints.
These blueprints will either contain recipes to upgrade your items or even create items from scratch using materials that u find.

Specials:
Specials are basically skills, however they have a long delay.
Most skills will be replaced with a new passive system.

Types of Zombies:
Walker - standard walking zombie
Rammer - Charges at player at lightning speeds
Suicider - Explodes when comes into contact
Infected - Standard zombies that walk incredibly fast
Butcher - Zombie that can run farely fast but attack multiple times within seconds
Thug - Zombie that moves slow but deals a ton of damage
Spitter - Zombie that spits infection towards player

Zombies always travel in packs, and sometimes one might discover a nest.

Bosses:
I intend on making the bosses extremely difficult to beat, with only a couple weaknesses.
The act-end bosses will also be zombies, and the story will be changed to accommodate for it.

well, this looks like another big resolution mod.

does not the increased resolution spoil the fun?
you cannot have moments of surprise when you see much more on the screen, also I heard that the monster AI does not turn on properly (aka you can attack monsters that are idle because they are too far off player)


but the idea looks pretty good!

Yes indeed another big resolution mod!

However, In this variation monster density will be increased by 75%
As for the AI distance, it is easily expanded by the use of a few simple calculations.
As well as increasing the monster density, higher difficulties will trigger the AI at larger ranges, Thus possibly having a monster be able to detect "see" you up to two screen lengths away.

The main purpose for the expanded resolution was complete customization of the UI.
Giving more of a horror feel to the "apocalyptic" side of the story.

Even then, if you think about this is technical terms...
The low resolution is at 1024x768, then subtract the control panel, you are left with only 728 in height, give or take depending on the health/mana bubbles i choose to use. Taking these dimensions and comparing them to the old 800x600, the player is only granted 224 px on the width of the screen, and 128 px for the height. Sounds like quite a bit, but in reality it is only enough room for one or two more units (monsters).
As for the high resolution, at 1280x768, the player is only granted a few more units for the width of the screen.


Also as im sure this has come of concern:
What will happen to AoTBE if this mod is currently in creation as well?

Both mods are currently being worked on, yes at the same time, AoTBE is currently in development by a team of colleagues of mine, and TCR is in development by me. Smile

Well, makes perfect sense. I am not arguing against that.

but then you may encounter map glitches like "end of map" or "black tiles" what destroys the feeling of game world when you see where it ends.

I like the monster types. With good mixing, it may create pretty awesome combinations Very Happy

But im sorry to say that i have zero reveals for you guys!

Im like Area 51 on this mod. Very Happy
However i will in time post a couple of screenies about the ui when it is done.
